Divan 2 / Tivoli pendant designed by Simon p Henningsen 1962
Stunning chromed and coloured pendant light designed for Divan 2 Restaurant in Tivoli by Simon P Henningsen, son of Poul Henningsen.
This amazing pendant light was designed in 1962 to be used in the restaurant at TIVOLI in Copenhagen where they were installed on a special retraction system which allowed the
lights to be lifted up into the ceiling when the fireworks display went on outside the restaurants windows.
The light consists of leaves of metal with chromed surfaces, its primary reds and blues reflect in the chromed of the leaf next to it, giving the light a theatrical and dramatic appearance.
This light comes with some history as it was purchased new at Illums Bolighus in Copenhagen in 1965 used for a few years and then packed down for a house move.
It was never used again and remained boxed until I acquired it.
Condition: The light can be accurately described as "box fresh" with VERY light signs of age.
All the chrome leaves are straight, clean and perfectly polished.´
Hangs on aprox 250cm new cable.
