Hans j Wegner teak cabinet with chest of drawers base, designed 1959 for Ry mobler
A teak storage cabinet designed by Hans Wegner for Ry Møbler as part of a modular storage system.

Designer: Hans Wegner - Producer: RY Mobler - Model RY100 - Year of design 1959
Actual production date for this cabinet june 1964

This system is extremely well built and brilliantly versatile. The impressive teak unit is composed of a door fronted cabinet concealing 4 shelves and a chest of six drawers.

The two sections marry perfectly although could be split to be use separately. The doored cabinet and chest of drawers are of similar heights so they would work wonderfully as single standing pieces; side by side, at opposite ends of the room, either side of a chimney breast etc… etc…

The shelves in the top part of the cabinet are all uninterrupted and adjustable.

All 4 shelves and the unit's frame are of solid block wood construction to prevent the shelves from sagging under the weight of the objects you wish to shelve.

The system has some wonderfully subtle details such visible dowel joints, contrasting solid teak feet and an elegant brass door catch/handle.

The brass handles Wegner used for this series are pulled to unlatch the lock mechanism and open the doors.

Condition: Very good with minor signs of use consummate with age. The system is very clean and has a smooth even oiled finish and rich patina.
