Rosewood chest of drawers by Henning Korch
A Brazilian rosewood chest of drawers of beautiful proportions.
Designed by Henning Korch - Produced by Silkeborg Møbelfabrik - Model Alabama - Year of design circa 1960
The chest comprises of five drawers. The bottom, largest, draw is unique having a depth of 4½ inch / 11 cm. whilst the two middle and two top drawers have matching depths of 3½ inch / 8 cm and 2½ inch / 6 cm respectively.
Each draw is adorned with two identical brass drop pull handles.
The cabinet's design features are elegantly subtle, an example of this are the recessed drawers. The drawers are set back in the chest further than is common to allow a play of light on the front of the chest and to allow more rosewood to be seen.
An excellent example of less is more.
Manufactured by Silkeborg Møbelfabrik, the quality of the materials and construction is stupendous.
The chest of drawers is in excellent condition. The Brazilian rosewood has retained its richness and the brass handles have acquired a wonderful patina which adds to simple luxuriousness of the piece. The chest is extremely clean, structurally perfect and shows little to no signs of use.
Width 17½ inch / 45 cm
