Vintage Hundevad storage unit in Rio-rosewood
Designer: Carlo Jensen - Producer: Poul Hundevad & Co - Year of design: 1960 - Model HU40/3 and HU40/22
Luxurious Rio-rosewood unit comprised of a base cabinet with locking panel doors and bookcase top.
All 6 of the shelves in the bookcase top are adjustable and/or removable.
The internal storage divided into 3 drawers and 2 shelves all of which are adjustable.
Internal shelves, drawers and lining are sycamore wood. 2 of the drawers are lined with felt/baize, traditionally these are used for storing cutlery.
Both sections of the unit have been together since they left the Hundevad factory although the top section, the bookcase, could be used as a standalone piece -in the same room or other. There is a small curved access hole to the middle section of the bookcase top designed to let cables through if you desired to have a light or sound system on the unit.
Condition: Brilliant, both pieces are very clean, have a soft even oiled finish, wonderful patina and stunning wood grain. Light scratches, consummate with age, are present but these are all now under Danish oil and do not detract from the piece at all. The locks work perfectly, key is present and all the solid wood shelves are as true as the day they were made. Back plates are fitted to the back of the cabinet to ensure that the top section does not move.
Marked with makers name to rear and Danish furniture control boards disc on inside.
