Vintage teak sideboard by Danish furniture company Axel Christiansen
A wonderfully elegant and practical vintage Mid-twentieth century teak sideboard/credenza.
Producer: Axel Christiansen - Date of design: circa 1961
The sizable sideboard offers an excellent amount of storage space behind 3 sliding doors and 4 drawers.
The sliding doors on the left and right side open to reveal an adjustable/removable shelf.
All three doors are fronted by a sculptural solid teak handle which allows the user to effortlessly slide the doors in either direction. Each door features the same piece of teak veneer which is nicely emphasized by the veneer used on the fronts of the drawers -the grain flows in the opposite direction -horizontally- on the drawers.
The drawers are all of equal depth and all lined with green felt/ baize -ideal for storing your George Jensen silver.
Could be used in a variety of different rooms, in any home -would be particularly ideal as a TV stand/Media unit as a DVD player/Media box etc
could be kept inside the cabinet and hidden when not in use (when you wish to watch television you would simply slide a door across).
Condition: Excellent, the sideboard is structurally perfect and close to immaculate. All the teak wood has a lovely deep colour, warm patina and newly restored even oil finish -arguably looks better today than when it left the Axel Christiansen's workshop in the early 1960s.
Features manufacturer's stamp to back.
