Gold medal award winning high-back 'Siesta' lounge chair with sling armrests in original brown leather upholstery, designed by Ingmar Relling and produced in 1965 by Westnofa, Norway.
This sleek armchair is one of designer Ingmar Relling's most coveted designs. The chair design won the Norweigan design council gold medal award in 1965 for environmentally friendly product, due to using limited raw materials in its construction. The frame is made from a beech ply, allowing for the curved shaped frame, making the chair suprebly comfortable when sat in due to is flexibility.
The chair features a hammock-style fabric backrest and seat, with leather upholstered cushions on top. The fabric hammock construction ensures a comfortable seat as it flexes to ergonomically support your body as you sit. The soft and subtle light brown leather is original and displays beautiful patina, with some light wear giving the chair tons of vintage character. The cushions are easily removable for cleaning or for re-upholstery.
The chair features leather sling style armrests which offer further comfort and support. This also is a less common configuration of the siesta chair, with the armless easy-chair siesta chairs appearing more frequently.
This chair is a great accent chair for any room in the home. Its small footprint and classic mid-century styling allows you to sit and relax comfortably, tuck into a book and relax after a long day.
