Vintage Midcentury ANT dining chair in teak ply with plastic wrapped tripod legs designed 1952 by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen.

Model FH3100 Ant chair with tripod style legs, designed for use in cafeterias due to their easily stackable and lightweight design. This iconic design of the 3-legged chair has won admiration worldwide ever since it was first launched.

The ant chair will stand perfectly on an uneven floor but its unique design means that the chair has 5 legs when someone sits on it.

The chairs are early production from late 1953 or early 1954 as they all have the pale grey plastic covered metal legs. This was later in 1954 / 1955 changed over to be nickle plated steel legs and again later on to chromed.

A true collectors item, due to the rarity and iconic status of the ANT chair, especially in this condition. Importantly for such an early version, the chair back is firm and free from softness.
